WHY do I always get craps in my feet - calves - quads, etc. during exercise?
WHY do I get a charlie horse in the middle of the night?
WHY does it happen when I jump?
Overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a position for a prolonged period can cause a muscle cramp. Most muscle cramps are harmless (even though they hurt like hell), some may be related to an underlying medical condition, vitamin deficiency, inadequate hydration or inadequate blood supply and flow.
Now, there is no ANSWER to this mystery. Obviously hydration plays a HUGE part in the overall cause but many people that are sufficiently hydrated still get them! This is a trial by error kind of solution but a solution none the less!
Try each of these solutions below for 1-2 weeks straight (one at a time) while still doing your normal exercise routine. See if one worked! If it didn't, try another the following 1-2 weeks.
- MORE WATER, 1/2 of our body weight in ounces. Yes you'll be peeing a lot but if you're not hydrated this could be the culprit!
- Pinch of sea salt in every glass of water and a few pinches on every meal to taste (Look at the label of your salt! Throw your Morton's away! No anti-caking agents and no chemical food coloring, etc. - do your research. A PURE sea salt like THIS is awesome!)
- Hydration supplement or electrolyte supplement (We've heard rave reviews about THIS, if you haven't tried it order it NOW!)
- Stretching 10 minutes post - workout, get the blood flow to those areas by mobilizing the area with a lacrosse ball like THIS
- Eat a Banana post workout with a workout protein shake! If you want to try a protein (low carb) for post workout, try THIS!
